RIP, dear friend Cordelia. She was such a gifted and talented musician, a superior performing artist and a graceful lady who represented the finest of Oklahoma City. I first met Cordelia while we were students attending Oklahoma City University. She presented herself as a confident upperclassman, while I was an entering freshman. That was so many years ago. Cordelia often practiced her music on the grand piano in the first floor visiting lounge of the residential dormitory. Her outstanding musical talent caught my attention and that of many others passing through the visitor lounge. Cordelia made such a memorable first-and-lasting impression on me at that time and continued to do so throughout the decades that followed. To her family, Cordelia's legacy leaves us with a beautiful melody of memories and an appreciation for her masterful gifts that live on through those she impacted.

Our community has lost one of its most talented, respected, and revered musicians, teachers, humanitarians, and friends. In her own quiet and supportive manner, Cordelia Bennett ministered to Gos's people, not only at the churches where she served with her husband, the late Rev. Hugh Bennett, but also, in her professional life as a top notch Vocal Music Instructor with Oklahoma City Schools and in several community service organizations. I was so blessed to know her, first, as a teacher/colleague at Northeast High School, and, as I had the privilege to work closely with her, as a personal friend and encourager. My heart is melancholy and somber, but I fervently believe in God's promise that, those who believe and trust in Him, will all be joined together one day once again. May God's love and peace comfort and strengthen Harriet and the entire Bennett Family.

The Bible tells you to be absent from the body, you're in the presence of the Lord. She will be truly missed. She was the best of the best. So gifted and talented. A wonderful Woman, caring, kind hearted, giving and compassionate. St. James will never be or feel the same. God is our refuge and strength. I thank God for her. God made room for you and your musical gifts. You shared them freely and started, at the of age 8, as the pianist in your father's church. You shared your talents to other venues, organizing groups and individuals that had a desire to learn. I met you in college at Langston University. You continued to grow academically and in God's grace. No more will you be forced to cut out a song during worship because of timely restraints or ignore hymns and gospel songs upon request. Jesus said, "I go to prepare a place for you. For where I am you will be also." You have graduated to a complete freedom to sing and play. You have a huge white organ and an angelic choir that does not require weekly rehearsals in heaven. You shall glorify God in an an everlasting worship experience. Alleluia:God's life in you and love have set you free. Yours in Christ, Jean E. Haynes
