My deepest sympathy to the entire family of Mr. E. We cross paths when Sonya was attending TENNESSEE State University and Mr. E. Was the guest speaker at Gentry Center for a graduation. Later I was able to meet the whole family and Mr. E. Made me a part of the family even helping register at Langston University. I love you all and may you forever keep the legacy of Mr E.

We'd like to extend our deepest sympathy and prayers for comfort to the Porter family. As we learn of the loss of Senator Porter, we reflect on his dedication to the community beyond the Senate. Senator Porter served as a Board Member to Metropolitan School of Dance for over 4 years and during that time was a stellar leader in advancing our mission and service to the community. His presence will be missed and thank God for sending him our way. Rest in Peace our friend...

To the family of Sen. E. Melvin Porter. I remember a precious moment he shared with me while attending The Loving St. James Bapt Church as member's. He said he had a near drawning experience in the pool & nobody noticed him ,except for the Lord. He suddenly gained the strength to come up for air & was so grateful to have lived through it. He had praises for God & a big smile on his face every time I saw him. That was just one Blessing of so many & I'm glad he shared that one with me. We all seem to take life & God for granted sometimes. I hope to work on that daily as Senator Porter taught me how to do it. I offer you all my condolences & prayers, for this is one Trailblazer who left his mark on us & a legacy that will never be forgotten.
