Rick will always be a friend to so many of us. He made a positive difference in so many lives so I know in so many ways Rick's impact will be felt for generations to come. The world is such a better place because Rick cared and his heart was reflected by his actions. When I lost my wife a few years ago, Rick reached out to give me comfort - a true gentleman and friend. So to Rick's family and friends I would like to share something my son shared with me when his mother passed which was written by a friend of the family years earlier: We plant the seeds that one day will grow; We water seeds already planted knowing they have future promise; We lay foundations that will need further development; We provide yeast that produces far beyond our capabilities. We can not do everything and there is comfort knowing this. This permits us to do something and to do it very well. It may be incomplete but it is a beginning, a step along the way - an opportunity for the Lord's grace to enter and do the rest. We may never see the end results as that is the difference between the worker and the Master Builder. We are workers not the Master Builder. Minsters not the Messiah. We are Prophets of a future not our own. Rick has served the Master Builder well and now is at rest knowing he made us all better people.

Rick, AKA: Granddaddy (to our kids) was not just a father in-law but he really was like a second dad to me. It still doesn't seem real that I will never talk to him again or see his face light up when his favorite two grandkids walked into the house. I already miss texting with him, sending him pics of Jace and Blakely. I miss him being at their basketball games here lately. I miss telling him when the kids games were for the weekend. He would always respond with "Okay, thanks! I'll be there!" Sometimes if Richie or I were tied up, Granddaddy would take them to their games or practices and he loved it. There was nothing that man wouldn't do to help someone out. In the 23 years I've known him, I truly don't think I've ever seen him in a bad mood. I could go on and on. I will forever miss his laugh and hugs. I always did a half hug while leaning my head on his shoulder and patting his back, everytime. I hope Jace and Blakely never forget their Granddaddy. I hope they never forget the awesome pointers and tips he would give them after games. He always told them to "play hard", no matter what. I really couldn't have asked for a better father in law than him ♡ I will miss you so much Rick. I selfishly would rather have you here with us, but I know you are loving it up there, reunited with your family and Kendra. We love you and miss you ♡♡♡

My sincere condolences to the Myers family. Rick will be missed by all who knew him. Our family always loved to see the Myers family at our yearly travels to Topsail Beach. He didn't love the sand & sun but he enjoyed fixing seafood for the family to try. Loved his laugh & big hugs. Miss you Big Rick!!

Mr. Rick was a wonderful neighbor. He was the first neighbor that I have had in years that welcomed my mother and family in a genuine way. Such a sweet man. We send our deepest sincere condolences to his family and friends.
