Not really sure what to say. I will start here. In Fall 1988 we met at OU at my apartment. From that day we never left each other's side as we got to work on our degree's and "Never Ignorant Getting Goals Accomplished" was our Moto. Had long work days and spend longer nights reading, studying, and playing mad games of playstation NBA, Football, and our favorite 2 player Desert Storm as a team. With that said, more than anything you getting married, having kids, watching the sunset at night, talking about the universe and our place, and eating good. I hated when you would have to leave and didn't know when I would see you again because of all you were taking care of with the kids teaching them reading, creative, writing, and how to overcome the many obstacles they may face in life as a African American child or otherwise....I talked to you Thursday for more than 3 hours and we laughed and joked like we use to even though I'm here and you were there. You also mentioned somethings that you only wanted to tell me first. We deeply worked through the conversation and he said he would be Ok............. Said he may make it to Tulsa for Basketball games for the weekend and that he would come to the house after he gets here. I said I want to see that car. He said take me to get something to eat like we use to in Norman. I said I got you. Done deal my friend!..... I guess we didn't get to complete our last mission together. "Much Love MAC"......................

Dr. Columbus was the coolest professor I ever had. He helped me accomplish my goals and excel in my teaching profession. He always told me you can take the girl out of the hood, but you can't take the hood out of the girl. We always joked about that. My deepest deepest sympathy goes out to his family. He will always be shing a light on the world as his legacy lives on through many people who looked up to him. God is almighty and now he has a great man to add to His circle.
